The Uganda National council of science and technology (UNCST) working with stakeholders, has developed Biosafety guideline and regulation which, when enacted. Will allow genetically modified plant to be tested in the field. According to the proposed bio-safety regulation research materials used in laboratory, green house, field studies as well as commercial fields are subjected to special rules intended to avoid unacceptable risks to human health and environment .The Biosafety regulation also recognize ethical principles as well as social economical and any other factors acceptable of national interest.
